This is a continuation of Midcentury Modern Double Dresser Part 1:
Sam got around to finishing up this piece! I’m completely in love! This Double Dresser will go in our bedroom along with my Midcentury Modern Dresser.
Here’s the second part of this build:
The front molding was cut and applied with mitered corners:
We like to use these clamps from Harbor Freight:
And then Sam made the drawer boxes! Did you know that the drawer boxes take just as long, or even longer to make than the box frame itself?
I missed some progress photos for the box building, but we can get on with the finishing touches. Sam built the boxes, stained them dark mahogany, attached the faces, and started placing the drawer rails.
You can see that each one of these drawer fronts was a single board, cut in half and sequenced in its placing next to one another.
And now that the drawers have been custom fit into their forever homes, we can stand back and admire!!
This shot really shows off the cathedrals through the saw tooth marks:
And the bottom drawers have so much character!
But so do the other drawers:
Next is the beeswax. The colors that a coat of wax brings out is truly stunning!
And now for the pulls! They are the same pulls as the Mid Century Modern Dresser Sam built earlier.
We then set up four pieces of Sam’s furniture at my parents house for our wedding, and here’s a great staged photos we caught:
The finished piece!
The waterfall sequencing turned out perfectly:
And it matches the Midcentury Modern dresser to a T:
What a perfect wedding present! All leather lined.
I can’t wait to show you my new jewelry box!
With Love, Erika Nora
Holy cow, that is absolutely gorgeous!! The beeswax really brought it to life, beautiful, deep color. I can truly appreciate the craftsmanship, great job! Lucky you, a jewelry box too??
